The IRS suggests the following steps:
- Use security software and set it to update automatically
- Use strong and unique passwords for accounts
- Use multifactor identification
- Backup files
- Secure your wifi and set a password
- Shop at sites that start with https
- Secure your phone as you would secure your computer
