Q.- A former employee is on our COBRA coverage. He wants to have secondary coverage and enroll in his wife’s plan at her open enrollment. Is this allowed?

A.- Enrolling in group health coverage is an event which would terminate an individual’s right to continue coverage under COBRA. You would be following the COBRA rules to terminate his COBRA coverage when he enrolls in coverage under his wife’s plan.
