Q.- We have an employee who is continuing coverage under COBRA due to a reduction in hours of employment. The employee has an FSA and an HSA. Can he pay his COBRA premiums through either of these accounts?

A.- COBRA premiums are not an expense eligible to be reimbursed from a health flexible spending account plan. Health Savings Accounts allow for more distribution reasons than FSAs and may be used to pay COBRA premiums.
