Q.- An employee is traveling across the state to see a specialist for cancer treatment. He asked if he can be reimbursed from his health FSA for the cost to get to the appointment. Can he?

A.- Yes. Mileage and parking expenses for traveling to and from a medical appointment are eligible for reimbursement from a health FSA. The reimbursement rate in 2020 is $.17 per mile. Documentation needed for reimbursement is typically a map printout of the travel route along with calculated miles and any receipt for parking. The reimbursement request may have to be submitted with documentation of the actual medical service being provided.
