HIRE Vets Medallion Award Program

The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans Act recognizes employers who recruit, employ, and retain veterans. Through the HIRE Vets Medallion Program, employers can apply to receive a “HIRE Vets Medallion Award” which may be included in the employer’s advertisements, solicitations, business activity or products and the employer will be recognized as an award recipient on the Department of Labor website. The award shows the employer is a veteran-ready business.

Program requirements differ by business size, but take into account the following (and other requirements)

  • Percentage of new hires who are veterans
  • Percentage of veteran employees retained for 12 months
  • Percentage of employees who are veterans
  • Provision of programs to enhance the leadership skills of veteran employees
  • Employment of a dedicated human resources professional to support veteran employees
  • Special programs to support veterans
