Q.- I ordered Nexium over the Internet and it was shipped to me from France. It was much less expensive to buy the drug abroad. May I get reimbursed for the cost of my purchase through my health flexible spending account plan?

A.- No. Nexium purchased and consumed in France might be eligible to be reimbursed from your FSA (for example, if you were working in France and had to take Nexium while you were there). However, drugs imported into the United States are not generally eligible to be reimbursed from a health FSA because the FDA does not allow the importation of drugs that have been manufactured abroad without FDA supervision. A drug is not eligible for reimbursement from a health FSA if the FDA does not allow the drug to be imported.
