Q.- An employee on leave wants to cancel her health coverage. Is this a COBRA event?

A.- It depends. If the person on leave had a reduction of hours which caused her to lose health coverage, the person should be given the opportunity to elect COBRA coverage. If the person really is just voluntarily electing to discontinue coverage, this may not be a COBRA qualifying event.
