Q.- An employee has to pay up-front for her son’s braces, before he gets the braces on his teeth. Can she be reimbursed for the full up-front payment even though the service has not yet been incurred?

A.- Yes, if permitted by the terms of your health FSA. A health FSA is permitted to reimburse advance payments for orthodontia services, so long as the employee has actually made the payments in advance to receive the future orthodontia services.
