The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) releases useful information relating to security matters. One of these releases, “How Anonymous Are You?” (ST05-008) offers interesting information about online presence.

The security tip, which may be accessed by clicking here, explains what information is collected when you visit a website. This information includes IP address, domain name, software details and page visits. The tip explains how the information may be used and what you should do to limit the amount of information collected during online activity. It suggests being careful supplying personal information and browsing safely within known websites.
