NIST Updates HIPAA Security Guidance

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released a draft update to its healthcare cybersecurity guidance. The new draft special publication 800-66 provides 152 pages of cybersecurity rules for implementing the HIPAA security rule.

The Special Publication provides guidance and resources that can be used by covered entities to protect electronic protected health information and understand the security concepts discussed in the HPAA Security Rule.
