The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights has six programs designed to help covered entities implement privacy and security protections required under HIPAA.  The programs are aimed at health care providers and even offer continuing education credit.

The programs address:

  • EHRs and HIPAA:  Steps for maintaining the privacy and security of patient information;
  • Your mobile device and health information privacy and security;
  • Understanding the basics of HIPAA security risk analysis and risk management;
  • Patient Privacy: A guide for providers;
  • HIPAA and You:  Building a culture of compliance; and
  • Examining compliance with the HIPAA privacy rule.

The programs can be found by clicking here.

Employers looking for HIPAA privacy and security reference materials may wish to visit the website and review the programs.
