For many employers’ Flexible Spending Account Plans, the last day for submitting claims for the 2017 plan year is fast approaching. Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Plans typically allow employees a period of time after the end of the year (and any grace period) to submit claims for reimbursement. For many calendar year FSAs administered by BAS, the last day to submit claims for the 2017 plan year is 11:59 pm ET, June 30, 2018.

Employees can confirm the submission deadline for their flexible spending account plans by logging into MyEnroll.com. At the top of the homepage click on the "Employees" tab, then click on the "View Acct. Balances & History" link to view important account information, including the submission deadline.

If a plan has a June 30 submission deadline, employees who wish to be reimbursed from 2017 plan funds for eligible expenses incurred during the 2017 plan year and any grace period must submit claims for reimbursement by 11:59 pm ET on June 30, 2018. If submitted timely, the claim can be considered for reimbursement. If the properly submitted claim is denied, an employee may permitted to submit an appeal of a denied claim for a set period of time after the claim submission deadline.  Please note that plans with a carryover feature may allow up to $500 of unused 2017 funds to be carried over into the 2018 plan year to be used for eligible expenses incurred in the 2018 plan year, but this carryover does not change the submission deadline for the 2017 plan year.

BAS offers three easy ways for employees to submit FSA claims for review and reimbursement.
