Benefit Allocation Systems ensures proper security for all retained data. Not only does BAS encrypt data in transit, but BAS also encrypts data at rest. Data at rest refers to data on a disk, with no distinction between data on active vs. backup disks.

Data at rest encryption is important to protect data from physical loss such as (a) theft of an individual or set of solid state drives (SSD) from a data center, (b) theft or loss of a failed SSD being transported during replacement procedures, (c) theft or loss of SSDs during decommission at the ends of their useful life, or (d) transport of a full array between data centers.

HIPAA and many states’ privacy laws require encryption of data at rest. In order to comply with these types of security requirements, MyEnroll active, production and backup data reside on fully encrypted disk.

BAS’ data at rest encryption tool is always on and covers all places that store sensitive data in MyEnroll. The encryption ensures that the data will not be visible if it is stolen or compromised. Encrypting data at rest is an important part of BAS’ data loss retention program.
