As part of Benefit Allocation System’s focus on community service, BAS participated in the Guest Chef Program at the Philadelphia-area Front and Erie Ronald McDonald House for the second year in a row.

Ronald McDonald House Charities, "RHMC", began in 1974 and has created programs that strengthen families during difficult times. Core programs include Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles that can be found in more than 63 countries and regions across the globe. RMHC provides vital resources and care to children and their families being served by leading hospitals. Their network of local chapters has been making children happier and healthier by keeping families close and giving them a place to rest and refresh.

BAS employees and friends prepared and cooked a full dinner for about 40 families staying at the Front and Erie Ronald McDonald House, and engaged several young patients with a Halloween-themed arts and crafts project. Many BAS volunteers wore Halloween costumes which enticed smiles from the guests, both young and old.

Project Coordinator Julie Nesmith reflected on the day as follows: I was happy to see employees join us for the first time to share in the event. The continued teamwork of our staff on events and projects keeps us destined for great outcomes. It was a nice experience for us and the families. If it was just a smile or a very shy, “thank you”, we could see the families appreciated having us there. It’s wonderful to see how such a small gesture can have such a warm outreach of care.

BAS plans several community service events throughout the year. Many thanks to all who participated!
