The White House has reported that the United States and the Russian Federation have agreed to communicate about cyber security issues to reduce the risk of widespread cyber security events.

Both countries have together created a new working group with the goal of increasing communication. Information will be exchanged on an ongoing basis to aid in the proactive deflection of any potential threats. With open dialogue, threats can be quickly addressed lowering the risk of misunderstanding or lack of information.

The White House and Kremlin have also decided to re-implement a direct secure voice communications line for cyber security issues, along the basis of the line that was used years ago to address nuclear weapons concerns.
