Q. Do you have a COBRA brochure or flyer I can give to employees when they are no longer active with our company so they can know about the COBRA rules?

A. If your company employs 20 or more employees, the group health plan is subject to federal COBRA continuation rules. COBRA requires that you inform your employees of their COBRA rights when they first become covered under the group health plan. This is referred to as the COBRA Initial Rights Notice, and it provides information to employees about potential future COBRA continuation coverage rights. We strongly suggest that you use this notice that is required by the Department of Labor to accomplish your goals, rather than creating an additional brochure or flyer. Cobra Control Services can prepare a COBRA Initial Rights Notice for you and distribute it to your employees. Please contact sales@basusa.com for more information.
