Q.- I am continuing my group health plan coverage under COBRA. When I turn age 65, can I keep my COBRA coverage?

A.- If you first become entitled to Medicare coverage while on COBRA, your Medicare entitlement will cut short your COBRA continuation coverage. If you first become entitled to Medicare benefits (actual enrollment in Medicare) on or before the date of your COBRA qualifying event, you can keep your Medicare coverage and still elect COBRA. You become entitled to Medicare benefits upon the effective date of enrollment in either Part A or Part B, whichever first occurs.
