The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) released a new “Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal” Poster. This poster replaces the previous poster “EEO is the Law.”

The EEOC enforces several laws that require employers to post information for employees.

The Know Your Rights poster explains the rights employees have if they experience discrimination in the workplace. It addresses Title VII (prohibiting discrimination based on race, color sex, national origin and religion); Age Discrimination in Employment Act (protecting employees age 40 and older from discrimination); Equal Pay Act (protecting men and women from sex-based discrimination); Americans with Disabilities Act (prohibiting discrimination against people with disabilities); and the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (prohibiting discrimination based on genetic information for health insurance and employment).

The poster must be displayed in a physical or electronic location that is accessible to all employees. A copy of the new poster may be accessed by clicking here.

The poster is available in Spanish and English. Employers may be subject to a fine if they do not comply with the posting requirement.
