Q.- We have a July-June health plan and just completed open enrollment for coverages starting July 2023. An employee declined coverage but just found out his wife (who was covering the family) will lose her health coverage in September. Can he enroll in our health plan at that time?

A.- The wife’s loss of coverage will be a Special Enrollment event that will entitle the employee to enroll himself and his family into your group health coverage. The employee should provide proof of the loss of coverage and request enrollment within 30 days of the event.
