Q.- We offer our employees the option to purchase a “legal services” plan. The plan gives employees discounts on various legal services like drafting a will, negotiating a lease, and writing a power of attorney. Do we have to allow employees to continue this coverage after termination of employment under COBRA?

A.- No. COBRA continuation coverage applies to group health plans. A legal services plan does not provide group health coverage. Therefore, an employer is not required to offer terminated employees the right to continue program participation under COBRA.
