Q.- How long does a continuant have to elect COBRA coverage?

A.- An individual who is eligible for COBRA coverage must be given an election period of at least 60 days, starting on the later of the date the individual is furnished an election notice or the date of loss of coverage. This 60-day timeframe may be extended by law for certain reasons, such as the COVID-19 national emergency.
