Q.- We use the monthly measurement method for calculating ACA full-time status. We have a part-time employee who will have worked more than 130 hours in June. Do we have to offer her health coverage starting July 1?

A.- The ACA rules allow an employer to take up to three full calendar months to offer health coverage to an employee who measures full time. The calculation starts with the first full calendar month in which the full-time employee would otherwise be eligible for health coverage (June). So long as you offer her coverage by September 1, your organization will avoid penalties for her not having health coverage in June, July and August.
