Q.- I have a lot of money left in my health FSA and the plan year ends this month. Are there any items I can purchase that don’t need a prescription?

A.- Yes. Some items that are for medical care don’t need a prescription. Just make sure to save your receipts. You can consider purchasing bandages, contact lens solution, hand sanitizer, masks, menstrual products, over the counter pain medicine, cough medicine, etc. The amount of the purchase must be for a reasonable use (you cannot stock-pile items). Of course, the terms of your FSA will control as to whether the items are eligible for reimbursement or not. Check your plan.
