Q.- We are a large employer and I know we have to offer health coverage to our full-time employees. Do we have to give coverage the day the employee is hired? We have a 1 month waiting period. Is that OK?

A.- Under the Affordable Care Act, an employer must offer affordable health coverage providing minimum value to all full-time employees or potentially face a tax penalty. An employer may set a waiting period before offering coverage. The waiting period must not be longer than 90 days.
