Q.- We just hired an employee who is receiving COBRA premium assistance from her former employer. Our health plan has a waiting period for eligibility- a new hire is eligible for coverage on the first day of the month after 30 days of employment. Does our new hire lose her COBRA premium assistance on her date of hire?

A.- No. While she is in the waiting period for your health coverage, she may continue to keep her ARPA COBRA premium assistance. She will lose the premium subsidy when she becomes eligible for your health plan on the first day of the month after her 30th day of employment, whether she actually enrolls in your coverage or not.
