Q.- We know the IRS has extended the Form 1095 distribution date. Do we have to wait until March 2 to distribute our 1095 forms?

A.- No. Forms should be distributed as soon as they are ready. The guidance says that notwithstanding the extension, employers are encouraged to furnish 2017 statements as soon as they are able.  Also, employees will want to have the forms when they prepare their 1040 tax returns. Individuals will have to identify if they have coverage (this is required for electronic filers), and many tax preparers ask for copies of the 1095 Forms from their clients.
