Q.- When does a COBRA qualifying event notice have to be provided?

A.- Generally, a COBRA notice must be furnished no later than 30 days after the date on which a qualified beneficiary loses coverage due to a qualifying event. 

The penalties under ERISA for not timely issuing a COBRA notice can be up to $110/day from the date the notice should have been provided.
