Q.  Are vitamin supplements, such as calcium and vitamin D, eligible for reimbursement from a health flexible spending account plan?

A.  No, if they are being used for general good health.  They may be eligible for reimbursement if they are being used to treat a specific medical condition.  For reimbursement in the latter situation, the participant should obtain a letter from his or her doctor stating that the vitamin supplements are being used to treat a specific medical condition.
