Q.- We terminated an employee who left for military duty. Do we offer him COBRA coverage?
A- Yes, if your plan is subject to COBRA (you have 20 or more employees). The termination of employment would be an 18-month COBRA event. Another law, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), provides for 6 additional months of coverage, for a total of 24 months.
