Protecting Against Vice Society Ransomware

Several federal agencies, including the FBI, released a joint cybersecurity advisory #StopRansomware: Vice Society. The advisory provides tactics, techniques and procedures to protect against ransomware.

Vice Society is an extortion hacking group identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that first appeared in 2021. Vice Society uses ransomware attacks against organizations in the education sector to gain access to personal information of students and staff. Vice Society then uses the information for financial gain. Kindergarten through 12 grade organizations are typically targeted.
