The Federal Trade Commission issued an announcement promoting Privacy Awareness Week which runs May 14 to May 18 this year. Privacy Awareness Week is intended to bring focus to the importance of protecting personal information.

The FTC has given the theme “From Principles to Practice” to this year’s Privacy Awareness Week. It addresses privacy protection and online security for businesses and individuals.

The FTC urges individuals to make use of its Consumer Center for help with understanding and maintaining privacy protection. The Consumer Center, which can be accessed by clicking here, provides helpful resources for limiting unwanted calls and emails, protecting kids online, online security and identity theft.

Employers may wish to refer employees to the website for helpful security and privacy tips and information.
