The U.S. Department of Labor released an online tool for employees to use to determine if they qualify for paid sick leave or paid family and medical leave for issues related to COVID-19. The tool asks the employee a series of questions intended to determine if their employer is subject to the provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and if they have a covered leave event. FFCRA requires certain employers to provide employees with up to two weeks of paid sick leave if they cannot work due to a quarantine order or if they are seeking diagnosis for coronavirus symptoms. An employer may also have to offer leave if the employee is caring for a family member with coronavirus or for a child whose school, camp or daycare is closed due to COVID-19. See our prior article on FFCRA.

The interactive tool may be accessed on the DOL website or by clicking here.
