Many organizations across the globe, including several U.S. agencies, were victims of a Russian cyberattack.

According to the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), hundreds of companies experienced intrusions affecting MOVEit applications. MOVEit is a program used to transfer data. BAS does not use MOVEit software internally and was not directly impacted by the attack.

The CLOP ransomware group claimed ownership of the attack. CLOP is notable for extorting large sums of money upon hijacking information. According to reports, Johns Hopkins University and Georgia’s university system, the BBC, British Airways, Shell Oil were impacted addition to some federal and state agencies.
