Human error is a huge threat to security of employer systems, especially as employees continue to work remotely. Training a workforce in security protocol and practice is essential to every employer’s security program.

Security awareness helps employees recognize cyberthreats and use technology appropriately. Without ongoing training, employees have a greater risk of falling victim to phishing and social engineering attempts. It is not sufficient for training to take place only one time; ongoing reminders keep good cyber hygiene and vigilance in the forefront of employees’ minds.

While IT groups must ensure network security, HR and business groups must ensure their workforce is trained to recognize cyber threats and have a knowledge base to mitigate risk.
