The U.S. Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation jointly released copies of the 2019 Form 5500 forms. The forms are used to report information on retirement plans and health plans with more than 100 participants.

There are few changes from the 2018 forms. Penalty amounts have been updated and Schedule H (Accountant’s Opinion) Instructions were revised to reference generally accepted auditing standards.

Form 5500 must be filed by the end of the 7th month after the end of the plan year, unless an extension is filed (July 31, 2020 for calendar year plans).
