Another Insurance Company Cyber Attack

Excellus BlueCross Blue Shield reported that hackers accessed their information systems. The health plan covers members in New York State. According to reports, the hackers had been in the systems since 2013 and the incident was discovered in August this year. 

Over 10.5 million individuals were impacted. The compromised information included Social Security Numbers, member names, dates of birth, medical claims data, addresses and phone numbers. The health plan is extending two years of identity theft protection monitoring to those affected.
