The U.S. Department of Labor’s webpage provides information about the Affordable Care Act for Workers and Families. The webpage may be accessed by clicking here.

On the site, the DoL explains that the ACA provides protections related to employment-based group health plans including

  • dependent coverage up to age 26,
  • prohibitions on preexisting condition exclusions
  • easy-to-understand summaries of a health plan’s benefits and coverage
  • coverage of preventive services and essential health benefits, and
  • claims and appeals rules

As the Affordable Care Act is still law, employers should be familiar with requirements relating to their group health plans.
