At the direction of a Presidential Executive Order, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be implementing a Special Enrollment Period for individuals to enroll in Affordable Care Act Marketplace coverage.
The Special Enrollment period will start February 15, 2021 and run through May 15, 2021. During this time, individuals in the 36 states that use the federal HealthCare.gov Marketplace platform may enroll in coverage for any reason. Individuals wishing to enroll in coverage may do so through HealthCare.gov, through a Marketplace call center, by direct enrollment or by working with brokers/assisters who can process applications for coverage. CMS plans to conduct an outreach campaign to raise awareness of the Special Enrollment Period.
