January 28, 2019 is national Data Privacy Day. This day, sponsored by the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), represents an annual effort to promote data privacy awareness. The theme for the 2019 Data Privacy Day is “A New Era in Privacy.”
NCSA’s website, which may be accessed by clicking here, will live-stream a symposium event featuring speakers from the data privacy space. The event begins at 2:00 PST at the LinkedIn headquarters in San Francisco. Cybersecurity leaders with different perspectives will explain opportunities and challenges for the road ahead.
Data Privacy Day began in 2008 in the United States and Canada as an extension of Europe’s Data Protection Day. Data Protection Day celebrates the signing of Convention 108 which was the first legally binding international treaty addressing privacy and data protection.
Data Privacy Day is observed each January 28th.
