The American Medical Association has issued a HIPAA Compliance Toolkit intended to help doctors meet their HIPAA compliance obligations. The Toolkit may have wider application for other non-physician employers who maintain group health plans subject to the HIPAA privacy and security requirements.

The American Medical Association provides an overview of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, along with a detailed discussion of what it means for protected health information to be “encrypted.” A copy of the toolkit is available on the AMA website. Click here to access the information.
