Q.- Should we keep copies of the COBRA qualifying event letter we send to a terminated employee?

A.- Yes. The letter should be retained according to your employee record retention policy. The length of retention could vary, so consult your legal advisor. Generally, the communication should be kept for at least 7 years after what would have been the end of the individual’s COBRA period duration had the person elected COBRA.
