In an effort to bolster national cybersecurity defenses, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) offers a variety of no-cost cybersecurity services and tools, alongside a curated database of resources provided by both the public and private sectors. This initiative is part of CISA’s ongoing mission to mitigate cybersecurity risks across U.S. critical infrastructure sectors and government entities at the state, local, tribal, and territorial levels.

Key Highlights of CISA’s Offerings:

  • CISA’s In-House Services: These services are designed to assist individuals and organizations in establishing and sustaining a resilient cybersecurity infrastructure without incurring costs.
  • Community-Contributed Resources: CISA provides a comprehensive list of free cybersecurity tools and services sourced from the wider cyber community to enhance security measures across organizations.
  • Submission Opportunity: CISA encourages the submission of additional free tools and services by organizations for potential inclusion in their resource database.

Top Recommended Services:

To lay a solid foundation for a robust cybersecurity posture, CISA recommends that all organizations begin by engaging with the following essential services:

  • Regional Cybersecurity Advisor Connection: Organizations should connect with a Cybersecurity Advisor (CSA) through one of CISA’s 10 regional offices, which provide localized support and guidance based on the organization’s geographic location.
  • Cyber Hygiene Services: CISA’s Cyber Hygiene services are crucial for securing internet-facing systems against weak configurations and known vulnerabilities, helping to safeguard vital IT assets.
  • Cybersecurity Performance Goal (CPG) Assessment: CISA has developed Cybersecurity Performance Goals to serve as a benchmark for best practices that organizations, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises, should implement. These practices are designed to prioritize investments in cybersecurity measures that yield significant protective outcomes. The free tools and services in CISA’s database are aligned with these CPGs to help organizations effectively focus their risk reduction efforts.

By integrating these services into their cybersecurity strategies, organizations can significantly enhance their defensive capabilities against cyber threats. CISA's commitment to providing free resources makes advanced cybersecurity more accessible, supporting a secure and resilient cyber environment for all stakeholders involved.
