The U.S. government started a website to help organizations combat the increase in ransomware. Ransomware is a cyberattack that encrypts files on a device making those files unusable. The attackers demand money (a ransom) in return for decrypting the files.

The new site, www.stopransomware.gov, provides a central repository for ransomware resources and alerts. The website provides

  • General information
  • Guidance and resources
  • FAQs
  • Readiness self-assessment

The website also includes a section for reporting an incident.

Businesses can use the resources to help protect themselves from a potential ransomware attack.
