Q.- I’ve been in front of my computer a lot and my eyes are bothering me. I am going to buy non-prescription blue light glasses. Will the cost be eligible for reimbursement from my health FSA?

A.- The cost of the glasses should be eligible for reimbursement from your health FSA if you have a Letter of Medical Necessity from your doctor. A Letter of Medical Necessity is required because the glasses have a dual purpose- they may be used for general good eye health or they may be used to treat a medical condition (such as dry eye). Your doctor will confirm on the Letter of Medical Necessity that the glasses are for medical care. If you are getting prescription glasses with blue light reflection, a Letter of Medical Necessity generally won’t be needed for the item to be eligible for reimbursement.
