The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) has issued a reminder for people to be aware of scams and malware campaigns as the holidays approach. CISA suggests caution in clicking on unsolicited emails, as they may contain malicious links or attachments with malware, ads with malware or requests for donations from fake organizations.
CISA recommends the following:
If you are subject to an online scam, immediately contact your financial institution and watch for changes in your account. Also reset passwords and report the attack to the police, the Federal Trade Commission and the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
