HIPAA Breach in Unauthorized Computer Access

A medical testing and screen company recently notified over 60,000 people that their protected health information was accessed by an unauthorized source. The company contracted with the state of Tennessee’s wellness plan.

It was reported that name, date of birth, address, email, phone number and gender may have been impacted after hackers had unauthorized access to the company’s computer system for approximately three months. It took several months for the company to notify individuals, but no reports of identity theft were relayed.
