Health Care Reform Phishing Emails

Employers should be wary of emails referencing the Affordable Care Act that do not come from www.healthcare.gov.

Last week, the United States Emergency Readiness Team reported an email phishing campaign that implicated the Affordable Care Act. The subject of the email references the Affordable Care Act and the message asks recipients to input health plan information. Once the link is clicked, the message directs the recipient to a site which attempts to get private information and install malicious code.

US-CERT suggests that individuals do not follow links or download attachments in unsolicited email messages and always maintain up-to-date antivirus software.
