Toward the end of 2018, President Trump signed into law the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Act of 2018. This law creates a Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and increases the responsibility of the National Protection and Programs Directorate under the Department of Homeland Security.
CISA is tasked with leading a national effort to defend critical infrastructure against physical and cyber threats. It will coordinate with both government and private organizations for existing threats and protecting against future occurrences. CISA offers cybersecurity tools, incident response services and assessment capabilities to protect networks supporting the essential operations of federal civilian departments and agencies.
