BAS is proud of its employee, Sarah Smith, who sang at The World Meeting of Families and Papal Mass this past weekend in Philadelphia.

The World Meeting of Families is held every three years and is the world’s largest Catholic gathering. This year it was held from Monday, September 21st to Thursday, September 24th in Philadelphia. It was then followed by Pope Francis’s visit to the city on September 26th and 27th

The World Meeting of Families gathering featured daily mass, speakers, workshops, and panel discussions. Sarah served as the cantor for mass on Wednesday, September 23rd, during which she intoned the sung portions of the mass and led a congregation of ten thousand people in song.

Sarah also sang in a select choir during the intimate mass that Pope Francis celebrated with priests, religious, and laity in the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and joined the choir of 500, accompanied by the Philadelphia Orchestra, for the papal mass on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Sarah said, “It was a magical experience!”. For the past three years, Sarah has been a soprano staff singer, choir section leader and cantor at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and the largest Catholic Church in Pennsylvania. BAS is honored to have such a talented employee on its team.
