Last week, the United States House of Representatives passed a bill that, if approved by the Senate, would impose additional security requirements on the health care Exchange enrollment website, www.healthcare.gov.

The bill would require the Department of Health and Human Services to notify a person within two days if his or her personal information is impacted by a security breach. This bill comes on the heels of many consumers being impacted by a security breaches at national retailers Target and Neiman Marcus. A spokesperson for the government has said that there have been no successful security attacks on the website and security testing is ongoing.

The Obama administration opposed the bill and it is not expected to pass in the Senate.
